Ravenscourt Park Wildlife Area Cleanup

Thanks to everyone for a wonderful enthusiastic start to cleaning up and regenerating the wildlife area last Saturday.  A good day’s work all round with all the visible litter gone (around 8 bags full? plus bits of board, scaffolding pole and a suitcase).   Particularly delighted that Morag’s muddy gang got the logs, rubbish and overgrown vegetation out the pond.   We also pulled some nettles and bindweed from around the fruit trees, and started dealing with some branches that came down in the wind last week.   It looks better already and has so much potential to be a really magical place.

Hope to meet again on the 9th of November to plant wildflower plugs and sow seeds into the meadow, which will have been mowed by then.   Date will be confirmed that as soon as the plants are sorted.

Brief version of our draft plan of action attached – if anyone wants a pdf of the more detailed version or plant lists, email Jen O’Riley jenmtoriley@yahoo.com.
