Contacting the Police
In emergency (ie if a crime is being committted or you suspect a crime is about to be committted) ring 999
For other enquiries, or to report a crime that has already occurred, ring the non-emergency number 101
You can still email directly (askew.snt@met.police.uk) (this is also easier to manage from a workflow perspective) but otherwise you can leave a message or ask advice from a police operator via 101 in a non-emergency or dial 999 in an emergency. You can also report online via https://www.met.police.uk or pop into your local police station – Shepherds Bush Police Station (252 Uxbridge Road) is open 24/7 with a front counter.

Lost, found and unwanted animals
If you have found an animal, please contact your local authority animal welfare officer or dog warden and/or your local rescue centre Most will have scanners to see if a found animal has a microchip, allowing the owner’s details to be recovered and then contacted.
Find out how to microchip your cat, dog or rabbit with The Mayhew.
If you’ve lost a pet, please don’t panic. Instead work out the most likely places that your animal may be handed in, beginning with local veterinary practices, your local council and/or rescue centre and work through this list one-by-one.
