Light IQ is an award winning lighting design and supply consultancy based in Rylett Crescent, W12. With an outstanding reputation, Light IQ is highly regarded worldwide working closely with leading architects, interior designers, garden designers and private clients on both residential and commercial projects.

What motivates you to do what you do?

Light IQ have a passion for lighting to maximise the creative potential of light and to explore and push the boundaries of illumination. This has led to the successful completion of over 1,000 award-winning projects worldwide, over the last 10 years. The highly respected design team, headed by Rebecca Weir, is characterised by an eclectic range of academic and professional backgrounds, from architecture and interior design to engineering.

Rebecca Weir, Light IQ Design Director, present lectures at ‘KLC School of Design’, as well as, at design shows such as: ‘Grand Designs’, ‘London Design Week’ and ‘Decorex’.

Light IQ also hold regular BIID accredited CPD lectures on lighting at their offices, with all proceeds going to Solar Aid to illuminate rural schools in Malawi with solar energy - efficient, renewable and responsible.

What is your biggest challenge in the current climate?

To deliver imaginative solutions to a demanding client base to ensure the realisation of ‘the exceptional’, which requires up to the minute technical innovations with an ecological conscience.

Has being a member of ABN helped your business?

The ABN provides a lively intelligent hub for local community engagement. We have networked successfully with local businesses and residents at ABN’s evening events. ABN is also active on Twitter which provides a channel to spread news about Light IQ activities.

How easy is it to shop locally on Askew Road?

Light IQ use the Askew Road all the time, and would be lost without it! Designers pop out regularly to pick up lunch. Company events such as the “Last Friday of the month”, Christmas parties, client meetings are all supplied by the Askew Road. The Ginger Pig is a great addition for high quality meat with known provenance. Max Inc is a treasure trove for reclaimed lighting classics. And what would we do without the Lavelli bakery for pastries, La Louche for great value fry ups and the Eagle Gastro pub for their pub quiz nights?

What do you think Askew Road will be like in 5 years time?

We are optimistic that the Askew Road will continue to flourish and offer diversity to the local community.

In the future, Light IQ would love to see an art gallery/interior design shop specializing in home grown artists and designers, with an eclectic design led lighting shop next door. A specialist greengrocer and designer clothes shop would add greatly to the offering, and reduction to our bank balance!
