Askew Business Network – linking local business with our community

An array of new shops and cafés is transforming Askew Road into a hub for the local community, and a thriving business network is helping to bring enterprise and residents together.

Askew Business Network (ABN) was launched in 2010 by a small group of independent business people who shared a desire to make the area a better place to live and work.

This business and community venture encourages the use of local services, promotes what's good about the area, and supports other groups that campaign for improvement.

There are hundreds of small businesses being run from homes in the area plus many in business premises out of sight from the main road and we encourage them to join us.

We want to link businesses in the area, highlighting local potential and creating trust so businesses and residents know they can turn to us to find the services and skills they need. They can do this by meeting us at our events or by looking at our new directory which we invite all local businesses to register with for free.

ABN also runs seasonal events in conjunction with Hammersmith Community Gardens Association – upcoming highlights include the annual Christmas Mini-market showcasing crafts and products from local businesses, and turning on the Christmas tree lights at Starch Green. May Madness, a summer evening party, is one of many other annual events.

There is no membership fee, nor formal membership, and the majority of networking events are free. Committee members give their time voluntarily. Occasional ticketed events are publicised in the monthly newsletter and on posters.

The email newsletter announces upcoming events and reports on local initiatives, campaigns and other news. It also showcases a different local business each month.
