Dinosaur Douglas and the Beastly Bugs
Local Author Heather Maisner talks about creating her latest children’s book Dinosaur Douglas and the Beastly Bugs – and how she became a publisher in the process.
Alarmed at the state of children’s teeth in London – where dental decay and infection is the most common cause of hospital admission in under-fives each year – Heather decided a new, dynamic approach was needed.
Joining forces with Kate Barnard, Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, she created a fun, rhyming story about a naughty dinosaur, encouraging children to take regular care of their teeth.
Hammersmith and Fulham Council sponsored the project and launched the title in June 2014, giving 5000 copies to young children across the borough.
Doors open at 6pm. Heather will give a short talk at 7pm and if you have any questions to ask, she will be happy if you come and speak to her afterwards.
