Hammersmith United Charities, with some help from the Big Lottery, is planning a celebration of International Women’s Day on 8 March 2017.
The afternoon will celebrate the vital role women play in our community. Many community groups depend on women – to lead; to organise; to campaign; to fundraise. And our community in Hammersmith benefits enormously from the diversity of backgrounds of the women who live here.
Our celebration will also call on local women to have a go at something new – we are preparing workshops to try creative writing, sport, horticulture, social enterprise, story telling, childrens activities and more. All free.
But the day is also about the power of women to bring about positive change – something we perhaps need now more than ever! We will be exploring the International Womens Day 2017 theme #beboldforchange, asking you to think about what that means for you, your family and your community and looking at what we might all do together to change Hammersmith for the better.
So please come along and try something out; sample some food made by local women; have a chat with someone you don’t know; and make 2017 the year every one of us and all of us together are BOLD for CHANGE !
